Blake + Christa are such incredible people. I have known Christa my entire life, and Blake could not be a match for her. These two compliment one another, and uplift each other in the most beautiful ways. From the way they make the other laugh, to the ways they support the other in their individual growth and goals, they truly exemplify what it means to be a partner.
This day was everything I hoped it would be for them: easy, laid back, comfortable, and simple. Christa + Blake are just the sweetest together, and their love radiated the entire day.
When I started planning this day, I was thinking about all the things that I know about who Christa is, and what she might want in an elopement/elopement photos. I met her when I was 3 or 4, and she was dancing Ballet with my older sister. Because I had seen her in flowing costumes, lots of stage makeup, and pink Ballet slippers for the majority of the time I had known her, lots of soft pinks came to mind.
As I planned this day a bit further, I remembered that she loved to spend time outside, was the first person to introduce me to Christian music in my pre-teen years, and was not as much of a girly-girl as all the years of Ballet had framed her as.
I knew I wanted to keep the pinks I had remembered from our childhood, but wanted to incorporate the outdoors, earth-tones, and wine – her adulthood loves I knew of – as well… and so, their bohemian elopement dream was born. I started the day off by setting up their tablescape, complete with red wine, a boho rug (that now lives in Justin and I’s living room), and pink frosted donuts, finished off with a floral hat by @SundayMarketFlowers, and a vintage Peacock Chair from @JessicaNicoleBohemia.
We hung out, spent time shooting lots of bridal portraits before sunset, at golden hour, and just after the gorgeous sunset had wrapped up leaving us with an equally stunning blue hour to work with. We ate donuts, drank wine, and talked about old times… I also asked Blake a few too many questions about himself I’m sure, knowing full-well that he was already Christa’s perfect match and needed no further interrogation or approval. I wish I could relive this day a thousand times over with them, but I guess that is what pictures are for.
After this gorgeous day, I am thrilled to say that they are having the time of their lives raising Christa’s daughter Evelyn (Evie) together, and Blake is the most phenomenal step-dad there ever could be. They have since remodeled quite a large part of Christa’s house, Evie has loved being in pre-school, and the three of them have taken on a whole slew of beautiful family adventures as they grow their love even more.
